Australian workplace brand Zenith has unveiled the Profondo seating collection, a pair of expressive furniture pieces comprising a sofa and a standalone armchair. The collection was presented through a Dezeen Showroom feature.

Profondo draws on the character of Italian furniture from the 1970s, an era associated with substantial forms, sculptural silhouettes and an assertive approach to interior design. Zenith has translated those references into seating intended to make a strong visual impression.

The sofa and armchair share a design language built around generous scale and distinctive form rather than restrained, conventional profiles. Their presence reflects a continuing interest in statement furniture within workplace, hospitality and residential interiors.

For architects and interior professionals, the collection offers another example of how historical design references can be adapted for contemporary projects without relying on literal reproduction. Profondo places form and atmosphere at the centre of the seating design.
